Synopsis

  • Fritz Shimon Haber is a brilliant German chemist, who will become one of the most extraordinary people in history. As a scientist, Shimon become famous for his revolutionary process for creating synthetic fertilizers that will avert a great overpopulation crisis. That will win Haber the Nobel Prize in 1918.

    But Fritz Shimon Haber is also a German patriot that loves his country with an almost blinding loyalty. Born and raised Jewish, his longing to be accepted as a part of the German society and his intense ambition in his career will lead him to abandon Judaism and convert to Christianity. When World War I starts, the bloody stalemate of trench warfare threatens to slaughter an entire generation of young Germans, and the German military beggs Haber to use his genius to create a new kind of weapon that could break the deadlock.

    As Fritz Shimon Haber agonizes over the decision, his wife, Clara, a chemist herself who had sacrificed her own career to support his, implores him not to go through with it. But Haber, sees an opportunity to finally become a true German hero agrees to help the military - and will become the father of modern chemical warfare. Ultimately, the tragedy of Fritz Shimon Habers legacy becomes personal as his wife, Clara, horrified at his decision, commits suicide in protest.
