    My favorite of the series

The relationship and intimacy between John and Abigail is the strongest emotional cord throughout the series. Other aspects of the story is well done but this great American love story was brought to life perfectly. Giamatti and Linney are exceptional tailored for each other as these characters; the few times the series stumbles it never involved the marriage. As such this episode is deeply engrossed with that aspect and the literally reunion scene is the most touching of the series.

Apart from that the episodes dramatizes successfully one of the surreal episodes in history that is both really funny and really emotionally painful. The scene in which John Adams is introduced to King George III *as America's ambassador* is best scene of the series. It fully captures just how bizarre, awkward and well in a way funny that event must have actually been.

    • Trivia
When John and Abigail are greeted in Boston after their return from Britain, the fife and drum corp are wearing red uniforms with blue facings. Though most people would associate red uniforms with British soldiers, it was the practice in most armies, including the American army, to reverse the colors of the uniforms for the musician corps, including drummers and fife players.
    • Goofs
When referring to Benjamin Franklin's marriage proposal and how it would inconvenience his wife, Mrs. Adams should have known that Benjamin Franklin's common law marriage wife had died years earlier in 1774. He would have at least corrected her if she had not known.
    • Quotes

King George III: There is an opinion among some people, Mr. Adams, that you are not the most attached of all your countrymen to the manners of France?

John Adams: [laughs] Yes, well, I avow to Your Majesty, that I have no attachment to any country but my own.

King George III: An honest man will never have any other.
