Amitabh Bachchan, Shobana, Pasupathy, Saswata Chatterjee, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani in Kalki 2898 AD (2024)

Review by Rishishinde3

Kalki 2898 AD

8/10

Great Visuals ! Amazing World Building ! Lacks Deapth (

Directing Such Complex Genre Movie at such Massive Scale is no easy task but director Nag Ashwin pulls Kalki 2898 with great style.

*Visuals _ Visually the movie looks spectacular , it may feel sore on eyes due to its post apcolaptic themes simmilar to Mad Max Furry Or DUNE and lots of grey scale scenes and literal dark world themes but it doesnt hinder the movie =.

*ScreenPlay_ The screenplay is at slow pace throughout the movie , especially in the 1st Part but the rest of the film is not too fast paced either evidently due to its 3 hour screenplay and unecessary songs that dont work with films pace and feel boring Overall the screen play could have been brought down 30 minutes and make it more fast paced.

*Story_ Story is rather streight foreward and does not contain lots of mystries to engage mind which feel like dumbing it down to cater to large audience but it feels like missed chance since the story is based on Mahabharata the gereastest epic of all time

*Acting _ Acting feels ok nothing too memorable but dissappointng at times especially from Lead Prabhas Who feels like lazy in fights and have lost his charm & screen presense . Deepika is not heavy either and loses emotional connectivity rather quickly and it feels like loss consdering how emotionally charge deepika can be from previous movies.

But the MAN OF THE HOUR is AMITABH BACCHAN , as a ASHWASTHAMA , at mid 80 age AB shwocase why he's the Big B with such Towering presence and energy greater than all the other starcast and it feels like he's the actual lead of Kalki 2898.

Kamal Hasan as Supreme fit perfectally in the role of greater evil and play it with such ease that he feels resonable and not just crazy mad man .

Action _ Action is great throughout the movies and keeps you engaged and doesnt exgaggerate as a typical south movie

FINAL VERDICT 7⭐

Its slow movie which require patience but the world building keeps you minmally engaged , story is rather predecitable and various cameos keeps it not stale , Prabhas as Bhairava feels lazy and on auto pilot mode , Deepika as a Ma dont pull emotion either but Amitabh Bacchan steals the screen literally , Action is fantastic and one of the reson to go for it .
