Did this franchise need to be remembered? No. but... remains forgotten
Seriously, someone needs to stop David Gordon Green, even though I give him a 5, he needs to stop... (and I don't agree with the horrible ratings for this film).
Yes, he is boring. Yes, he is extremely forgettable. Yes, he doesn't have good performances... but he is a film in The Exorcist franchise, whether we like it or not.
Not agreeing is different from "not understanding" the horrible reviews that are barely more than 1. Yes, if I were a big fan of the first film, I would be extremely angry, because... this is just another mediocre horror film compared to original masterpiece. William Friedkin must be turning in his grave right now. (RIP, bless you for not having to see that!)
The script is still bad and cliche, even though it contains interesting ideas. Here the film's focus is only on mediocrity... the mediocrity of generic films. That thing that makes viewers like you and me have the horrible feeling of indifference.
I think my only compliment will be on the practical makeup, which is done in most of the scenes, where all of this is present. (As for the downside of this compliment, it's that there are few moments with CGI... even though it's little, it's rubbish. It's clearly poorly done, it looks like Playstation 3 graphics XD)
In short: if you're a big fan of The Exorcist, see it in the cinema... (Even though I already know that as an acid fan, you'll hate it... I still believe it's worth it).
Other than that, it's better not to watch it and pretend that this film never existed (Not because it's horrible, in fact, because it's INDIFFERENT). Or watch it when you have nothing to do, there's a movie that will become a classic to watch while you take a nap.
THE BIGGEST MISTAKE HERE IS BRINGING CHRIS MACNEIL BACK!!
