If you like your narration cloying & intrusive, give this a try!
In audio books, I prefer the narrative to be clear and direct. Some books, wherein the narrator insists on doing silly voices and dramatic pauses drive me crazy. Just read the text, please! Along these same lines, a good documentary should be voiced by someone who lets the visuals and the story speak for itself. I tried this film - albeit briefly - to see if the critics were being too harsh, as Meghan is a neither here nor there "celebrity" for me: don't love her, don't despise her - and sad to say, I completely agree with the naysayers. Evidently Ms. Markle is truly not content not to be the center of attention, and she renders the film unwatchable, imo. Out of curiosity I listened to an excerpt of the dolphin one with Natalie Portman, who is also a neither here nor there "star" to me, and she excels, because she just narrates the film, with a calm clear delivery. I watched extended clips of these two documentaries only: my conclusion being I might give the dolphin one a real viewing but will consign the elephant one to the discard pile. After all there is too much quality viewing to waste my time on this sub par effort!
