    Decent story, fine performances.

Former Army man 'Major' Arthur Routledge now operates as a landlord in a house where nobody wants to speak to him; people, in fact, mock him. When one of Arthur's tenants is murdered, he becomes the man of the moment. But did he do it?

I had no knowledge of this series; the algorithm found it for me, probably because it features Joan Hickson.

It's a quirky standalone, one-off drama that's worth seeing. It has some form of humor; Martha is a hoot, and Joan Hickson is a delight as the nosy neighbor, but credit to Ronald Fraser; he's great as the central character.

There's a hint of mystery, but this is very much a character study. As it develops, it becomes a 'what's he going to do' as opposed to a 'whodunnit.'

The poor Major certainly had some form of personality disorder, Munchausen syndrome perhaps? He's a flawed individual, or was he just lonely?

Light and entertaining; the performances really make it.

    7/10.

Gwen: She had a smashing figure.

The Major: She was rather bonny, I suppose, in a vulgar sort of way.
