A Gripping Episode leading into the Finale

While not perfect, 'Quest' fills Smallville's need for a great lead-in to the show's season 7 finale, dealing with the over-arching storyline of the second half of the season, including retroactive continuity that concerns the entire series.

On the brink of finding the Traveler-controlling device created by Virgil Swann and the Veritas society, Lex finds himself in trouble when he gets attacked by a robed man who carves specific symbols into Lex's chest. Clark gains knowledge of the attack and meets this man in a church in Montreal, Edward Teague- the last remaining survivor of Veritas. Meanwhile, with the help of others, Lex deciphers more and more clues to lead him to the same church. Clark may be in trouble when Teague is dissatisfied with the way that a certain Kryptonian has been working on fulfilling his destiny.

This episode is just what was needed for the show in the third episode from the climactic 'Descent,' continuing a gripping story that began in the 14th episode of the season and has changed the meaning of previous seasons of the show. The action scenes are light, but the mystery and hunt therein serve for great television, and what should be a great conclusion to the last season with Michael Rosenbaum (Lex), and Laura Vandervoort (Kara) as a series regular.
