Wilson's Heart

Family TV night always includes House, MD. Luckily with TIVO we can re-wind whenever someone in the family inevitably blabs commentary out during the show.

We never had to touch the TIVO while this episode played out. Everyone kept their pie holes shut and that's saying quiet a lot when you have teenagers about you.

The quiet held until the very end of the show, and for several minutes afterward. That just doesn't happen in our boisterous family.

In the silence, my husband and I held each other for a long time. Only fantastic theater can grab and hold you like that. TV just doesn't get better.

Incredible. "House's Head" (the episode prior to this one) was the buildup, establishing a surreal, emotional approach never before seen on "House." THIS is the payoff. Save for some episodes of "The Shield", I have never witnessed a more deeply felt and powerful episode on television EVER. It will take a whole lot of effort for the writers to top themselves on this one. "Wilson's Heart" could have easily become sentimental and clichéd, but it looks too deep and sees too much honest pain. We are finally able to see that House is not a monster, that his misery extends far past his leg injury. We can finally look into his soul and see a resonating sadness and loneliness surrounded by a lifetime of pain. This is a masterpiece.

This episode, and the previous one, are two of the best pieces of television ever made. They are tense and dramatic, poignant and oh so sad. I defy anyone not to be moved by the final scenes.

All of the performances are exceptional, the script and direction superb. We see a different side of House as he struggles to find the answer and, for once, shows genuine concern for another human being, or is he really more worried about what the outcome will mean for himself ?

It doesn't matter. These 2 episodes are simply brilliant.

It still makes me cry, even after 10 years of watching this epsode for the first time. And I am not a cry baby.

I've never felt so compelled to write my views on a show in my life I actually had tears come to my eyes I had to laugh it off (at myself) when in reality all that happened was I had an emotional response I've never felt before towards a TV show of fictional characters was because i have never before seen such fantastic writing and character portrayed over 42 minute episode... This episode is absolutely fantastic and absolute MUST WATCH! So many layers and hidden depths in this show I love it!!! I can't get enough of it... But this episode has by far been a stand out for me so far I am truly lost for words at my response to the ending of the series. I'm shocked!
