Atmospheric enough to keep your attention; different enough to keep watching but not scary or creepy enough to consider it a masterpiece.
I found out in May 2020 that there would be a Ju-on TV series and I couldn't have been any more excited, I patiently waited for July to come so I could finally watch this. And I'll have to say that I expected more something along the previous films. I didn't get what I want, but that's completely fine, because at least there was atmosphere which seems to be severely lacking in horror, whether it's movies or television shows. Some scenes that were described as "disturbing" actually made me facepalm. I'm sorry, but there's nothing scary nor creepy about a wailing fetus. It's just gross, and not the good kind of gross either. I see a lot of people are misinformed about this TV series. The ignorance of some of the viewers is truly laughable and even moreso than a wailing fetus. I'm only giving it ten stars to counteract all the undeserved one stars this has been getting. My actual rating would be a 7/10. This is definitely something I will be rewatching. I'm hoping there will be a second season but I'm not sure if it was meant for just one season or if there will be any more. They can explore so many things with what's been introduced here. Let's hope for the best!
