    Better than expected

Triple Dog follows a group of 16 year old girlfriends as they take part in an extreme game of 'Truth or Dare' called 'Triple Dog', which is where the film gets its title from.

Triple Dog is not ground-breaking, but still feels fresh. Some may judge it as being nothing more than a teen movie, but as the story develops, there are many hidden depths to it. It reflects aspects of what it is to be a 16-year-old girl and how peer pressure, fitting in and being socially accepted can become the most important thing in the universe, even at the expense of your personal well-being or morals. Within this I feel like the film contained a very valuable message and although the ending was rather predictable, it was a fitting ended and I appreciated it.

It has plenty of entertainment value as the characters took part in extreme dares, but there is also emotion attached to it. The characters face dares that are very personal and specifically chosen by their friends to humiliate them based on their values and personalities. Beyond this, there's an element of mystery that is interwoven throughout which takes the movie beyond a group of friends daring each other to do ridiculous and extreme stuff.

The characters had interesting dynamics and good chemistry which was interesting to watch and added to the intruige of the story. Unlike most others in this genre, Triple Dog, felt like it tried to give attention to the characterisation of the main characters and their relationships with each other.

Overall, I enjoyed Triple Dog; it's entertaining, has an element of mystery, contains valuable messages and is led by a bunch of decent characters in comparison to other films in this genre.

I should sue my cable company.

This actually sounded like it would be good when I read the summary on my cable menu, but it ain't! This is a horrific "movie". First off, I never understand why screenwriters decide to have teenagers talk like complete idiots in teen movies, this is something that has been going on since the late 1980's. The writers take the "lingo" too far and the characters end up sounding like Nimrods. Nobody talks the way these kids do 24/7. I was a teen in the late 1990's, and they did this then in teen movies too, you would think that they had learned something since 1999, but no. There was a point where you could watch teen clique movies and enjoy them, the movies from the 1970's through the early 1980's are actually quite decent. The characters in this one have no gut, no core, they aren't fleshed out at all. They make it so that you couldn't possibly care about a single one of them. If they all died you would just shrug your shoulders. There were just a bunch of people running around and you never got to know them. They were really stupid too, and I've never seen such a misfit group. The bad girl is so lame, sideways hat and skateboard included. She's a nasty little chump, but would be an absolute joke in some of the Chicago schools. The script was clearly thrown together, they tried to make this out to be some suspenseful thriller. Where at? This is the kind of film that they should make suspects watch over and over again, they'll give up the goods just to end the torture.

Turned out to be a better movie - (5.5)

    • This movie didn't start good, but turned out to be a better movie.
    • Story is good with a small suspense in the end.
    • Acting was good. Girl who played Chapin acted well.
    • This is a kind of teen movie.
Final Score - 5.5/10. A decent one time watch movie.

A Decent Coming of Age Film

This movie still hasn't been released in the US, at least not in wide distribution, and that is a shame. Despite the 2 (so far) 1 star reviews, that appear to have been written by the same person, this is not a bad movie. The characters are a bit stereotypical, but, name a teen movie where they are not. And, frankly, the teens in this movie are far more believable than in most teen films. Part of the problem might be that this film seems to be categorized as a thriller, and it definitely is not. It is a coming of age movie. I like that the characters do develop over the course of the film. And, while it is hard to empathize with the main character, Chapin, in the beginning, by the end of the film I did. I am also a Brit Robertson fan from her work on the TV series 'Life Unexpected'. And, why this film got an R rating is beyond me. Oh, and this film passes the Bechdel test(look it up if you have never heard of it). That may be the reason for the unhappy reviews.

A great movie, well acted, with some Amazing talent....

The thing is, if you go to IMDb (Internet Movie Database), the definitive movie site for All movies, you will see Many negative reviews for this movie. This is because with a title like Triple Dog (I Triple Dog Dare You), you tend to expect content along the lines of "Saw" meets "Mean Girls".

But actually it was just a Very well acted coming of age movie; the "Dares" were all really rather lame, but they all monumentally contributed to the film's continuity and meaning, and established what was important throughout, that is, "what Really happened to Stacey St. Clair"....

    I Highly recommend this movie!...
