    Painfully bad.

After the mild success of the 2022 film called Smile, I decided to give this different movie, of the same name, a try.

Well, simply put, it was so bad that it was a struggle to watch the entire movie.

There were countless times I just wanted to give up.

Horrible acting, horrible flow, bad editing. I felt endless moments of awkwardness at how poorly put together this one was.

The story, in its essence, has great potential. Its location is majestic and mysterious. The plot is an interesting idea that could have been portrayed with great imagination, vision, and thrill. Sadly, it was not even remotely done. It is bewildering to me at how badly this film messed it up.

Interesting start, then you get kicked in the face by horrible actors and very "special" effects

"Smile" is a below average horror movie. You could say it's pretty bad even. The plot is thin, boring and predictable.

I was having hopes at the beginning of this flick, the oriental flair in Morocco and setting was very appealing to me and created some atmosphere. Also, the appearance of Armand Assante kept my hopes up.

However all this vanishes when the group starts the trip on their own. You notice all flaws quite soon: Dialogue is often irrelevant and irrational. The acting was horrible, you don't root for any of the characters.

Then there's the stupid plot where the characters die after a picture has been taken by an old, doomed camera.

Special Effects? Well, they are special that's for sure. The death scenes and effects are probably the weakest part of this movie, they were all very goofy and just plain bad.

Assante is in the movie for like 5 minutes, he probably noticed what a piece of garbage he was acting in halfway through.

    Don't waste your time. 1/10

    Blah

Several students on a school holiday discover a mysterious camera, but after several of them start showing up dead after having their picture taken, they start to realize this camera is much more than they bargained for.

As a horror fan and especially a fan of Italian horror, I was hoping there would be something redeeming about this film. But, in short, there just was not much to offer and it seemed more inspired by 1990s American horror than Italian horror of any decade. A pity, really, because we are sadly lacking someone to pick up the reins from Bava, Soavi and Argento.

Not to say the film is a complete failure, but there is nothing that jumps out as must-see and it is a shame that such a good-looking film just has no soul.

What are you "kids" doing out here?

Oh man, now I hate to talk bad about Harriet Macmasters Greens films because im such a fan but good gravy this movie is awful. The voice dubbing is bad, I mean really bad and very noticeable. Terrible acting, terrible script, the whole thing screams high school play. The group is referred to as "kids" but everyone looks like they're at least 40 lol Also, what is with the makeup? They're going camping and trakking through the desert but the makeup looks like theyre on the way to the club. Why is Armand Assante in this? He's way too talented to be wasted in this film. The kills in this movie are amateurish looking at best and this movie commits the worst offense a horror movie can commit, not being scary. Not scary, not even a little bit. I will say though that the locations filmed are indeed beautiful so there's that.

    Nothing to smile about...

Hmm, not great at all. The acting is not all that good and the story itself is not motivated enough. Too many unanswered questions. Quite forgettable, actually. There are way too many other good movies out there to sit through this.
