Nicholas Hoult and Bill Nighy in Jack the Giant Slayer (2013)

Goofs

Jack the Giant Slayer

Edit

Continuity

when the beanstalk first falls we see that it flattens the Kings red tent, however afterwards the king returns into the tent to get his daughters bracelet, then also the princess changes into her armor while in the tent.
The skull rock through which the river flows over the cliff edge of giant land, is destroyed by the giants, yet a short time later when they ride the beanstalks down, the skull rock is restored.
The bell thrown at the castle by the giants changes broken shape from when it lands and when Jack and the princess ride off on Jack's horse to light the beacon.
Upon becoming the giant king, Fallon sows more beans in the top of a waterfall. The resulting stalks grow downwards allowing the giants to descend to Earth and attack the human army - but there is no water crashing down from the waterfall above.
When the king begins chopping the beanstalk with his sword, he is cutting nearly straight down from overhead on a horizontal root, but immediately afterward from a different angle he is cutting with a sideways swing at the vertical stalk.

Factual errors

Near the end when the two headed giant swallows the bean and is torn apart; his hand lands next to Jack. The crown on two fingers of the giant, is bigger than Jack's waist, let alone his head.
When the giant king finds the bag of beans dropped by Roderick, it has five beans; however, after the giant blows them into the water, only four stalks grow. Counting the initial bean that starts this story and the bean that Jack retains, there should be seven beans in all; eight if you count the one from the story book's tale.

Anachronisms

This is an anachronism of the use of the word "Lady." Early in the film Jack objects to the way a woman is being handled stating "That is no way to treat a lady." This is a modern and present day concept of the word "lady" and completely alien to that of historical humans. Until recent history the term "lady" would have only be used to address a woman of breeding or nobility and NOT a commoner, such as the characters in street scenes in this photoplay.

Crew or equipment visible

Shortly after sending the giant over the edge with bees, in the woods behind Elmont (Ewan McGregor) is visible a fast-moving dust cloud from moving vehicles, just as if a dirt road existed there and vehicles were traveling on it.
The scene following the soldiers that fell on the ground, when the party just starts to make headway into the rocky terrain of the giant's home. There is a GoPro situated on a small metal mount jutting out of the rocks in the middle-left of the shot as the camera zooms in slowly.

Plot holes

As the stalks grow up the weight of the giants pulls them down The water from the waterfall fall onto the clouds and doesn't make it to the ground. Potatoe out.

Character error

50 minutes and 38 seconds into the movie, Roderick's height is just below the giants' knees but then at 82 minutes and 35 seconds in, his torso and head are completely crushed under a giant's foot and none of his innards spill out like they would after being stepped on. Other humans are also shown to be knee high to the giants during the chase scene after the giants come down to earth and when Roderick first meets 2 giants (Foe and Fye) on the cliff he pushed someone off of.
When the giants try to pull down the bridge, some of them die from being shot with arrows in the chest (even though they have breastplates on which would definitely be thicker than human sized one), shoulders, and in the face. Fallon (the one with 2 heads) is shot in the face twice when trying to catch Jack on the bridge and survives.
