I was impressed with the initial half of the movie which shows the villain getting his comeuppance...I felt this part was done pretty nicely even though the CGI used was lousy...
However the latter part of the movie started out bad and it was all downhill thereafter...it was as if different people had worked on different parts of the script...or else as if the scriptwriters and director were suddenly in a hurry to bring the movie to an end and sacrificed logic (& everything else)...
I can understand that certain amount of suspension of belief is necessary while watching a movie which deals with occult, reincarnation, spirits etc...but when logic flies completely out of the window and you are left with a "what the hell" feeling, there is something seriously wrong with the movie...I have read the earlier reviews which heap praise on the movie and I realise that Indian movies have a long, long way to go before they can be compared to international standards...the backbone of any movie, the plot, is so shoddy here that it would have been torn to shreds by international movie critics...
On a more positive note, the acting was pretty good, some parts of the story was fascinating & interesting and had the writer / director not been in a hurry to wrap it up, it would have been a truly awesome film...

Compared to when this movie first came out in the year 2009, I do think that it's quite the gem.
This movie features a female lead without all of the romance. Looking at the priorities of the main lead was quite refreshing (compared to some movies where the female lead tends to rely quite a bit on the male lead).
The plot and acting of all the characters is probably one of the best. It was one of those rare times where the villain impressed me as much as the main character.
The VFX and graphics weren't as impressive but the plot and characters should be more than enough for that to be overlooked.
I would recommend watching this if you want to find an intriguing supernatural story with a fantastic female lead and villain.

Watching Arundhati is a delight. After a long time i have seen a telugu movie which actually blends the CG and Content in right proportion. This is a movie that must not be missed by any one and must be watched in theaters only. It sets new standards of film making and we can expect more films to come out of this genre which is rather rarely touched in Telugu cinema these days. The story of the film is OK. But the screenplay is fantastic. U cannot blink ur eye while watching this film. It has breathtaking screenplay. Acting by Anushka is fantastic. I am at a loss of adjectives for her performance especially in the role of jejemma. She is perfect for both the roles. Sonu sood is Superb. He must thank Mr.P.Ravi Shankar who has given voice to that character. Sayaji Shinde is good. Rest of the cast performed well. One must thank the producer Mr.M.Shyam Prasad Reddy garu who gave us a gem of a movie. His desire for creativity is seen in every frame of the film. He never compromised on anything. I guess no other producer would have dared to spend 13+ crores on a heroine oriented film. Kodi Ramakrishna proves yet again that he is the man for these types of films. Special mention for Rahul Nambiar who is the creative director and Special Effects Supervisor of the film. He has done a great job.
This film is a testimony to the up onwards rise and superstardom of Anushka Shetty in the South Industry. The biggest blockbuster which holds so many records. Till another 5 years wasnt broken, it broke the patriarchy in the male dominant eccentric telugu industry to a great extent . The performances were top notch . Must watch a badass performance from Anushka. Even after so many years it still has a very speacial place.
I watched this movie because it got dubbed into Malayalam and was shown in a TV channel. I don't like watching dubbed version but a few minutes into the movie I was taken back so took the original version(Telugu) and watched it. I wasn't a fan of Anushka before but after watching this she is one of my favorite. She made Jejamma and Arundhathi character look so royal and at the same time respectable. Sonu sood's villain character even was also simply superb except for annoying "ya aye" type of dialogs which was not needed. CG effects team also did a fabulous job in making it look more realistic. Even though there are lots of gimmicks taken from foreign and other movies I felt it also good (scenes like poltergeist effects, demon being slayed, drumming scenes from Chinese movie forgot name, demon on walls etc). Also the scenes where Arundhati dances to kill villain and then wears same dress during the end reminded me of the "manichitrathaazhu" original version of chandramukhi where Shobna did fabulous job. Anushka is simply superb in Saree, she is the ultimate gulti on screen.

- GoofsIn the scene where the car gets locked on railway tracks, after Anushka jumps out of the car you can see blood on her cheeks and mouth and in the immediate next shot after a few seconds you don't see blood on her face and her face looks normal.
