My husband and I love this show. The lead actress is wonderful and the supporting cast are also terrific. The mysteries are quite well done and they're usually connected to some Norwegian fable or book, or some historical person's life. The scenery can't be beat since nearly every episode is on the coast. But the characters are what keep you coming back. Annika is a really quirky person who seems a bit odd at first but ends up winning you and her new colleagues over after a couple of episodes. Some people don't like the character addressing the audience directly and it was a bit odd at first but I think it works. The show does not formulaic like many British mysteries do, and I think that's partly why.
