Seth Rogen, Sebastian Stan, and Lily James in Pam & Tommy (2022)

Review by brandi-denson

Pam & Tommy

8/10

Baffled at the bad reviews...

This is a masterpiece on so many levels. It couldn't be told any other way, as the story is so dark; what happened to Pamela Anderson was absolutely awful. It couldn't have happened this way today, as she was victimized and then persecuted because of the times.

For those of us who lived through this and heard about the tape, or knew someone who had one, or just read the tabloids, this is an inside view of how it all went down. The campy way it's written and produced takes the viewer back to the 90's and the beginning of the internet in a fun way while telling this actually very dark, sad story.

Lily James does an amazing job portraying Pamela Anderson. Some have said she comes across as dumb, and I felt the opposite- I think Lily's Pam is kindhearted, hardworking, and endearing. I felt physically ill while she was being questioned during her deposition.

Each actor in this series is absolutely perfect for their role, with Nick Offerman especially delightful as Rand's (Seth Rogen's) skuzzy partner.

This show is nothing less than brilliant and as a xennial who remembers this from the tabloid reader's perspective, every minute of it is a delight, though I'm heartbroken for Pamela Anderson. She deserved better from all of us.
