This movie is so fun and so campy. Is it winning any awards?...no. But the acting is good. It's got a great cast and they do a really good job. I was very pleasantly surprised with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
It's a romance. It's horror. It's comedy.
Go for the fun of it and don't take it seriously. This is not a classic Victorian novel and this is not a true tale of zombies like most die hard zombie fans think of them (ie. The Walking Dead or the more classic Night of the Living Dead). I am a true zombie lover. I loved "28 Days Later", "The Walking Dead", "Zombieland", etc. This is not one of those, so if you don't expect to see that when you go to this movie, I think you will enjoy it.

Breathtaking and fantastic movie that speculates about an amazing premise: Zombies along with Jane Austen.
At the beginning of the 19th century, along with the silks and spices of the colonies, an abominable and virulent plague arrived in Britain that caused in the infected an insatiable hunger for human brains. Millions of them perished and returned to life as hungry and bloody zombies. Today, almost a century later, the last battle between the living and the dead is still to be fought, and the Bennet sisters will not miss the event. As the Bennet sisters-Elizabeth (Lily James), Jane (Bella Heathcote), Kitty (Suki Waterhouse), Lydia (Ellie Bamber), and Mary (Millie Brady) have all been trained in the art of weaponry. Mrs. Bennet (Charles Dance) and Mrs. Bennet's (Sally Phillips) only want to see her daughters married off to wealthy suitors. Meanwhile, the Bennets attend a country dance also attended by newcomers Colonel Darcy (Sam Riley), his good friend the amiable Charles Bingley (Douglas Booth). "It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains." - Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith. Bloody lovely !. For future , for love, for family, everyone must fight !. Slay with pride. Kill with prejudice. To survive 19th century England, they'll need beauty, wealth and a killer instinct !.
Action, horror, gore, bone-chilling scenes, romantic cinema and a certain amount of black humor come together in this free adaptation of the best seller by Seth Grahame-Smith. The latter is an author from whom other novels had previously been adapted, such as Abraham Lincoln, vampirehunter. This exciting movie was well written and directed by Burr Steers; displaying romance, unstopped action, thrills , spectacular fighting , graphic violence, and being pretty entertaining. Packs large amount of struggles , guts and gore , there's a huge body count, this one actually knocks off an immense amount, several humans and zombies are beheaded, or staked bloodily in the chest, or people bitten in their necks even more impaled with large weapons. There's really savage decapitation , plenty of bodies ripped in scraps and half, including some of the most tears ever, that spill lots of guts and blood .
Seth Grahame-Smith 's Quirk Books novel, in turn, gave a twist to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, setting the action of this nineteenth-century novel in a world infested with the living dead. Thus, the independent, insightful and stubborn Elizabeth Bennett bnicely played by Lily James, ecomes here a radiant heroine, master of weapons and martial arts and trained in China along with her also exceptional sisters. The protagonists give decent performances, actors were trained heavily to be able to do a lot of his own stunt work, such as: Sam Riley as the expert zombie hunter Colonel Darcy, Jack Huston as Lieutenant George Wicham, and Bella Heathcote as Jane Bennet. Along with them, Charles Dance plays the father of the beautiful Bennet sisters, Matt Smith as suitor reverend Parson Collins and Lena Headley plays the implacable Lady Catherine de Bourgh.
It contains tense and atmospheric musical score by composer Fernando Velázquez. As well as colorful and brilliant cinematography by Remi Adefarasin . Spectacular production design and art design from David Warren, Noami More, Steve Carter. The motion picture was professionally made by Burr Steers (17 again, L, Igby Goes Do, Big Love, The New Normal, Weeds, Chapelwaite, Charlie St. Cloud) , though with no originality, because takes parts of other Zombie movies and Jane Austin novel. Rating: 6/10. The film will appeal to terror and romance genre fans.

Oddly enough... very entertaining
This honestly surprised me.
It goes without saying I was not expecting much from this movie. I have seen various Pride and Prejudice movies before today and did not enjoy any of them out of sheer boredom. Nothing against those movies or their quality but it just wasn't my kind of movie. I assumed that this would be no different and that it would just be the same exact story with a few zombies sprinkled in.
And to an extent, it was exactly that, but there was much more depth to the zombie plot than I anticipated. The zombies were a very large part of the story and even when there was romantic drama there was still a close focus on the zombie aspect. There is always that underlying tension that zombies will strike.
The visuals were not the best but were still very well done. The make-up and effects for the zombies were much higher quality than I thought they would be. And the atmosphere kept a good mix of an old Pride and Prejudice feel while also adding a new element of dark zombie-apocalypse tension that I loved seeing.
There were a few parts that I rolled my eyes at, especially when things got a bit too dramatic between the lead characters Darcy and Elizabeth, but all in all it was a good movie that I enjoyed.
Very surprised to say I give this movie an 8/10.

A very unexpected and entertaining movie.
Genreally, I like zombie movies a lot because of their post- apocalyptic vibe.
Normally though, I find the genre comes in 2 distinct flavours; serious stuff like "28 Days/Weeks Later" or campy B flavoured offerings like "The Scouts Guide To The Apocalypse".
This movie however defies the genre. The closest comparisons I could make would be "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" or "Penny Dreadful" but with more humour. It follows the story of Pride and Prejudice so closely I kept looking for Keira Knightly to appear.
The production quality however is what surprised me the most; it's incredibly high with great sets, realistic costumes, lighting and cinematography. There was a lot of attention to detail.
This is a very unique and interesting mash-up which I quite enjoyed. I am surprised it's not rated higher on IMDb but I believe it deserves a watch regardless.

Surprisingly a Lovely movie!
Well, first time for accident I saw the trailer I was shocked, I used to really love Jane Austen's adaptation movies, because love her work. But this was different and trailer was kind of too much for me.
Nevertheless, I felt curiosity about it. And then I saw it. I must confess that I had seen "Pride and Prejudice"'s Joe Wright (2005) like thousands of times and zombies don't bother me so why not? well the movie was just Lovely! Seen this girls as a powerful warriors, seen our beloved Lizzie fight it against zombies without fear, with grace and elegance was great! There are some things make me doubt but is refreshing, have some action, some brains and of course Mr. Darcy the personification of charming prince doesn't disappoint is sexy in his own way.
The landscapes are beautiful, some great actors around and zombies are OK. It's not the movie that will change your life but if you are a big fan you're going to smile you'll thrill every time Mr. Darcy and Lizzie's eyes meet and with every interaction. it doesn't matter if are zombies, plants, aliens or whatever. This is one of the biggest love stories of all times.

- TriviaDuring the filming process, Lily James stated that she had a scene where she had to walk through an area with zombie heads all around. Of course, most of them were fake props and she was directed to stomp on one. They would have supposedly gotten squished, however she stomped and realized everyone behind cameras were all staring at her in shock. She looked down and realized she stepped on one of the few extras' head.
- GoofsExcept for the first zombie-killing scene where Darcy wipes blood off his dagger, there is no blood on any of the weapons or their clothing after they slay the zombies.
- Quotes
Elizabeth Bennet: I shall never relinquish my sword for a ring.
Charlotte: For the right man, you would.
Elizabeth Bennet: The right man wouldn't ask me to.
- Crazy creditsAt the very end of the end titles, children sing snippets of English nursery rhymes in zombie versions.
