Tom Hiddleston in The Night Manager (2016)
Eight years after its explosive Season One finale, Prime Video and the BBC unveil first-look images for Season Two of The Night Manager. The acclaimed first season of The Night Manager was nominated for more than 30 awards and won multiple Emmy, Golden Globes and BAFTA awards – including Best Actor for Tom Hiddleston (Loki, The Life of Chuck), who reprises his role as former British intelligence operative, Jonathan Pine. The new season picks up the story of Pine in a fresh and original direction, set in the present day.

Season Two will star Diego Calva (Babylon, Narcos: Mexico), as Teddy, Emmy-nominated Camila Morrone (Daisy Jones & The Six) as Roxana, alongside Indira Varma (Obsession, Obi-Wan Kenobi) as Mayra, Paul Chahidi (Wicked Little Letters, The Serpent Queen) as Basil, and Hayley Squires (Adult Material, Beau Is Afraid) as Sally. Set to return are Academy Award winner Olivia Colman (The Favourite, The Crown) as Angela Burr, Alistair Petrie (Sex Education, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) as Sandy Langbourne, Douglas Hodge (Joker, Black Mirror) as Rex Mayhew, Michael Nardone (Traces, Rome) as Frisky, and Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place, Honey Boy) as Daniel Roper.

Made by the award-winning London and LA-based independent studio The Ink Factory (The Pigeon Tunnel, The Little Drummer Girl) in association with Character 7, Demarest Films and 127 Wall, and in co-production with Spanish collaborator Nostromo Pictures, The Night Manager Season Two is created and executive produced by David Farr, based on the characters created by John le Carré. Directed in full by BAFTA winner Georgi Banks-Davies (I Hate Suzie, Paper Girls), the upcoming season expands the story beyond the source material of the titular novel for the first time.

    The next James Bond

In my opinion Tom Huddleston would be a great choice to take over as James Bond. This movie is a great example of how he would do in my opinion. Hopefully the 007 producers will give him serious consideration. He has shown the skills needed for the role and will easily handle the roll whether it requires seriousness action and also the times when sarcastic humor is needed.

    A Masterful Adaptation

Though updated for the present time and reworked slightly, The Night Manager stays forcefully true to the characterizations and atmosphere of Le Carre's classic spy novel. Tom Hiddleston shines as the complicated protagonist, and Huge Laurie and Olivia Colman provide forceful screen presence to offset his vulnerably self-contained persona.

Fans of Le Carre's work are likely to enjoy The Night Manager, as are those who enjoy an atmospheric mystery populated with beautiful men and women, intelligent writing, and international stakes. Not a series to watch without paying attention, it is a series well worth the time and effort to absorb and enjoy it fully.

    Very Entertaining!

I have to say That Night Manger was even better than I expected and I was expecting it to be good! Especially after reading all the great reviews and ratings. Tom Hiddleston is one of the most underrated actors working today. He's terrific in everything he does. The Night Manager follows former British soldier and now hotel manager, Jonathan Pine (Hiddleston). He is contacted by a spy operative for his help to spy on international businessman Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie). Roper is believed to be the leader of secret arms trade. Pine infiltrates Romper's inner circle while keeping his real mission a secret. If you're looking for a good spy thriller that will hold your attention throughout every episode then give this a try. You won't be disappointed.

Entertaining suspense and a welcome change from reality rubbish

At last a good old fashioned yarn where bad guys are bad and the good guy has a moral position. A flick through the average night of TV and the schedules are filled with low-cost reality rubbish, The Night Manager breaks the mold it has a good storyline, high production values, and a great cast. More like watching a Bond movie, for example, using three million pound plus speedboats to go out to a restaurant just to get a beautifully choreographed overhead shot framed against the Med. Certainly looks and, with its intelligent script, sounds more like a big budget movie filmed on location in Europe than TV series. What more do you want for your licence fee? Forget it is reminiscent of a bygone era it is entertainment. As long as it doesn't degenerate into an overlong series with filler episodes that go nowhere I will keep watching...

    "War as a spectator sport."

I missed this mini-series when it came out but recently discovered it on Blu-Ray at my public library. It is a joint project of Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie who also are two of the primary stars. It revolves around undercover, illegal weapons sales and the team trying to bust the ring.

Tom Hiddleston is former trained British military man Jonathan Pine. We encounter him working as the night manager of a hotel in a foreign country. He ultimately gets recruited into the undercover organization out of London and reports to Olivia Colman as Angela Burr.

As it develops Hugh Laurie as Richard Roper is the very wealthy big boss behind the illegal weapons sales program, the type and quantity to start a small war. As Roper states at one point, his involvement is "War as a spectator sport." He has no sides, he just sees it as a great money-making opportunity.

As key character is Elizabeth Debicki as Jed Marshall, the much younger girlfriend of Roper, but she will eventually cooperate with the good guys.

My favorite in the series is Tom Hollander (so good as the bad guy in "Hanna") as Roper's enforcer Lance Corkoran who is called Corky. He plays a dastardly character but is so good at it.

All in all a very entertaining series.
