Mourning Wife

This film is based on The Postman Always Rings Twice but does not follow it exactly.

Tomiko is a wife in mourning. In more ways than one. Her mother-in-law has passed away, her husband is unable to walk or perform sexually and she has to run their printing business by herself. Until a drifter named Ryuzo applies for a job there.

Director Daisuke Goto does a masterful job. Every scene in this film has tension. Tension between various characters. Tension with situations. Even sexual tension. Every scene has something. The cast is excellent as well.

Most of the sex scenes are woven into the story or characters. Some are more erotic than others but I wouldn't recommend this film for the sex scenes. And there's nothing really explicit anyway if that's what you are looking for.

It is how the story is told that makes me recommend this movie. At just under an hour it goes by quick.
