Silo has a solid plot and cast, but suffers from some overt gender discrimination. There's a pretty simple test we can apply to this one: swap the gender of all the characters. Still cool? Nope? Ok then, it's not ready for release. Every single strong, brave and competent character with a functional moral compass is played by one gender, and all the weak, morally bankrupt, and cruel characters are from the other gender. This is apparently all OK though, because the men are the ones who are weak and evil. Apparently the way we get equality is by taking turns at discrimination. I expect better from modern writing than this, and I hope that others do too.
