I think this is the best movie I have ever seen. I had no trouble keeping focused on every detail as it was interesting and funny. it moves quickly through the story with very unique scenes to get the point across. It is a great comedy and made me laugh out loud. It contains no dead spots. Each actor carries his or her part with great skill. It tells the stories of modern life in a very special way without being maudlin. I wonder why Drew P. is not a major movie-star as he possesses real movie-star looks with excellent acting skills. In this day of flashy action films, this character study of these two men is refreshing. I was able to "get-into" the film and felt a part of their lives. It was most entertaining and gave me such a good feeling that this feeling of goodness will stay with me a very long time.

As Jon and Adam go on their journey together, they take you with them, their ups and downs, and inevitable realization of what life is all about. All the actors were genuine, and the story credible - It was sentimental, dramatic and funny - all the elements of a good movie - highly recommend this film. The location of the film, set in the desert (or at the golf course) put you into the lives of Adam and Jon, along with the memorable people they encounter. You begin on their road trip with them, not knowing what to expect, as neither do they. Where it ends up is not far off from the "real world". Adam seeming to struggle with life, going through a possible divorce, the emotions of why and what else is there. Jon resisting getting older and feeling the trials and tribulations. The women in the movie hold their own and add a good balance to the two male leads.
I saw this film at a "screening." It was very funny. It starts off funny and is funny throughout. A friend and I watched it together. I am 46 years old. I could relate to characters and their lives and their friendship totally. This film made was thought provoking and poignant. I highly recommend it to everyone. There is quite a bit of "language," but nothing vulgar or offensive or over the top. Do not let that stop you from seeing it or you will miss out on a great film. Be prepared to laugh at their life and...hopefully your own. Because everyone should be able to do that, right? The writing is not only well-done, but humorous. The acting is good. The characters are great.
"About Fifty" is a very real to life movie that deals with the fears of being fifty and over.
To be honest, when I saw the film (today on my laptop), I truly had different expectations on how certain things would turn out in the movie. However, I thought that the storyline turned out good regardless.
Martin Grey and Drew Pillsbury, who played Adam and Jon, delivered good performances. I really found their interactions with each other had a brutal honesty and played well into the issues that men their age face (health issues, dating, and divorce). I also enjoyed the golf aspects of the movie and I can see how the sport ties into these guys getting older.

I've seen this cute indie movie a little while ago. Being a fan of independent productions I just had to watch it. While not having the best story & script it was still entertaining enough. The movie also had a nice use of locations. Their low budget was seemingly very well spent. There are no famous actors in this flick except for a few well-known TV players like Wendie Malick, Miriam Flynn or Kathleen No one. There should be more projects like this one in particular. Age is still a huge issue, not just in Hollywood but worldwide. Aging should be displayed in more movies/TV shows and we shouldn't be seeing just a bunch of 20 or 30something actors on silver/small screen. I really hope it can be done in the coming years.
