    pleasant diversion

First you need to know there was a manga called "Sukeban Deka" in the 1980s which means "Delinquent Girl Detective". The concept is delinquent girl Saki is forced by the police to act as an undercover policewoman in high school. The gimmick is she carries a special yo-yo as a weapon which doubles as her police badge. This was turned into a live-action TV show, an OVA anime plus some movies.

Today there is a novel called "Meido Deka" which means "Maid Detective". In it delinquent girl Aoi is rescued from a life on the streets by wealthy Inspector Kaido. He offers her work as a maid in his home along with a butler and a cook. In gratitude she also acts as an undercover cop in cases where a maid could infiltrate and investigate. Her gimmick is a modified sweeper. As you can imagine this show isn't meant to be taken too seriously.

The show is a pleasant diversion but nothing great. Our lead girl plays cute well enough but her smiles often seem forced. Plus she looks unconvincing as a street fighter.

Very good show and good companion to KR Faiz and Gotchard

Why I'm throwing them in the mix? Not just because it seems the beautiful main actress of this show Saki Fukama is a big fan of my third favourite Kamen Rider of all times (The Faiz) and she also acted together with one of the guests of this series (Yoko Minamino) in Kamen Rider Gotchard as the tutor of KR Valvarad but also because this is the same thing the genius writer (who, I might remind you, is the best tokusatsu writer of all times) behind Faiz and father of the secondary main writer (who should have been the main writer tout court) of Kamen Rider Gotchard loves with all himself to the point of using it in lesser works of his like the first YuGiOh series from 1998, delinquent girl stuff mixed with a heavy dose of romantic melodrama that doesn't hurt in any way when done in its proper format (yup, Noboru Iguchi I'm looking at your failed J-Drama stuff). There's also lots and lots of references taken from both Sukeban Deka and Sukeban Deka II, which is very much appreciated. At last, particular mention for the incredibly banging OST, there's more metal in it than the entire career of supposed metal bands like Rhapsody, Sabaton and their useless copycats like Wind Rose from Italy, which is insane for my tastes. All in all, highly recommended for J-Drama, tokusatsus and metal fans. Immense thanks to Geo9875 for subbing this show and making it available for the western public, we might disagree on our views on certain streaming services but his efforts deserve a praise.
