Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire

6/10

COULDA, WOULDA, SHOULDA...

I'll start with the positives. A fantastic (wasted) cast, plenty to get excited about with this ensemble, unfortunately only 2 good parts. Lots of backstories, not enough time. Plenty of action and fast paced storyline. Plenty of unfortunate death and destruction without audience connection or care. The special effects seemed over the top at times and made it hard to feel immersed in the movies reality. The script was boring, underdeveloped and predictable at times. Most of the players seemed wooden or forced and I had no connection to them and did not care if they lived or died. In my mind this probably needed to be a 10 part tv series with all the stories and subplots.

Too much in too short of time equals too much information and not enough story connectivity. There is so much potential, but it needs a better storyteller or a longer format.
