    My favourite episode

The first time I watched the show, and this episode, I was confused at first and liked it by the end. Recently I've been rewatching the series, and I found myself looking forward to this episode for the last two seasons. Finally got to it, and I have to say, it is my favourite episode so far, perhaps my favourite episode of the entire show. There are other reviews here that explain objectively why it's so good, but for me, it's just a damn good episode and I love it.

Everyone is mad because Booth and Bones still aren't together...

Sure, you feel like you were lied to. "But, they were together in the dream and now they are not and it's like so disappointing!" GET OVER IT! They will be together, in time. Have patience(HIMYM is having the same trouble with the Barney/Robin relationship, slow to go, but it is inevitable). I found this episode to be entertaining and insightful to Booth's mind. In his coma dream he mumbles the facts of his life(him and Bones being married instead of just partners, his brother is a cop instead of him). These mumbled thoughts reveal some truths, like how he would like to marry Bones(along with a few telling lines, Sweets, "I'm a bartender, I'm practically a psychologist." And to Zach, "You're the kind of guy who'd go to jail for not killing someone."). Point is, it was interesting and allowed for extended drama. No one could see it coming, as all previews made it look like Booth was fine and everyone was solving a crime. I liked it and now can't wait for the next season. Of course, that last thirty seconds makes me worry about next season.

    get real

One of the hallmarks of a great series is the ability to step back (or forward) and demonstrate a sense of humor about itself. Not that there isn't some dark humor in Bones (after all, if nothing else Shakespeare made that a must to disrupt tragedy/drama). In this episode every character slips neatly into an alter ego that matches their regular series character as slick as slick can be. This is a ride. You don't take an amusement park ride seriously, you just enjoy it for what it is: an escape from the daily grind. This episode is a fun house. The mirror distortions are just enough to make you smile; but if you are a regular viewer you know just as you get to the end you will find yourself once again in the "real" world of the series. And that is just what happens here. And who doesn't like Iceland?

    What's not to LOVE!?

Alternate reality, all the Jeffersonian favs, funny throwbacks and nicknames. And how about Sweet's voice? And Clark - who knew!? And who doesn't love to see booth and bones together!!?

    Booth and Brennan together

This is an alternate reality episode. Rather it's coming from Brennan or Booth or both, it's unclear. What is clear is that they both have deep feelings for each other.

For four years, the fans of Bones have been watching Booth and Brennan tip toe around their love for each other. The fans are given a trip with a "What if" episode. Booth and Brennan are married and own a night club. All the cast is there, but mixed up in roles. I found it interesting of who chose to be the bad guy - and can see either Booth or Brennan coming to this conclusion...

We've been waiting for these two to kiss ever since the Christmas episode in Season 3. Well, we got it!

When Cam (as the Detective) pulls out the .38 that was hidden in the sound system she refers to it as a "Saturday Night Special" and "totally disposable". In fact it's an older model Colt Detective Special, a collector's item that would never be referred to as a Saturday Night Special. Ironically her next line is about crime novelists "always getting it wrong".

Jack Hodgins: When you love someone, you open yourself up to suffering. That's the sad truth. Maybe they'll break your heart, maybe you'll break their heart and never be able to look at yourself in the same way. Those are the risks. The thought of losing so much control over personal happiness is unbearable. That's the burden. Like wings, they have weight, we feel that weight on our backs, but they are a burden that lifts us. Burdens which allow us to fly.
