Skip This One
Immediately when I saw this on Paramount, I had low expectations, simply because the theatrical 2018 PS was hot garbage. This one somehow surpassed that. The first act had a lot of promise and I was actually enjoying it. The gore was good, it had some action in it, the dog was very adorable. But after the protagonist sort of catches on to what is happening, it falls short. By the time the climax happens you begin to think "is this over yet?" The ending was poopoo, closing out with "sometimes things are better off dead". Grrr so cheesy and weightless.
I cannot STAND horror movies that cut right when someone is being killed. It's lazy, it's stupid and it seems to be a way to save money on special effects. Why do directors do that??? The movie just made absolutely no sense in both story, cinematography and wardrobe. The locations were great, but whoever was in charge of costume design should have been fired. This takes place in the 60's and the ONLY thing that was even in that era was a VW Beatle. Maybe some outfits in one scene, but eh that's about it.
Every character in Bloodlines seems to have zero personality or depth. It's like they are all stoned and depressed, having a monotone voice. There's no character development for any of the leads. It just seems like it was a very corporate film with where they wanted to push a new Semetary movie out as quick as they can. Paramount as been successful with stream released movies. Not this one!
Give it a go if you have time to waste or it's a rainy Sunday. If you love fun kills, a plot or any depth in a horror film, skip it. I promise it's NOT good.
