Willem Dafoe, Mark Ruffalo, Emma Stone, Christopher Abbott, Ramy Youssef, and Jerrod Carmichael in Poor Things (2023)

Review by oscarsanchezg

Poor Things

3/10

Boring, grotesque, and misleading

Boring, grotesque, and misleading.

Having famous actors in a movie does not make it good. The performances are exaggerated, and you never manage to connect with any of the characters. You end up detesting them.

The cinematography is jarring, with its colors and settings making it look like a story for children or Disney princesses, which it definitely is not. Emma tried to make a different kind of movie with a message that turned out to be obvious: society fills us with inhibitions, shed them and you'll find your true self. It preaches feminism at all costs.

There is little to redeem this film and make it worth watching. Not even its pornographic content, which is terrible. Despite its good ratings, this movie will not be remembered positively, and once you watch it, you won't want to see it again."
