This topic deserves better
I really want to like this show. It is an IMPORTANT topic that deserves attention. The scenery is beautiful. I am enjoying the opportunity to learn about Alaska - if indeed the show is authentic in this regard. But the dialog is unnatural, the acting stilted, almost across the board. I get it that Eileen Fitzgerald is not supposed to be a likable character, and I confess I have not previously sampled much of Hilary Swank's work, but based on her performance in this pilot episode, I don't understand why she has been so highly lauded. I don't buy into her emotion in her little tirade about the irony of being canceled for being a misogynist. I know that sometimes pilot episodes have some weaknesses that get worked out. I'll give the next episode a shot and hope it doesn't rub me the wrong way.
