More disappointing than the trailer
Despite being turned off by the acting, scenes and music in the trailer, I went to see Dunki in theater as I've always loved Rajkumar Hirani films, Sanju had made me cry and I loved it in theater.
The acting in Dunki is lousy, SRK cannot act, everyone is aware of this, but the remaining cast isn't great either. Vicky Kaushal though is a natural and does do justice to his character in some comedy and emotional scenes. But SRK, Taapsi, Boman all come off as flat and often unfunny. There's no realistic naturalness or spontaneousness in their acting or body language.
Where's the classic Raju Hirani comedy vibe and heartfelt dialogue scenes, it's all missing. And who composed such lousy music that isn't even worth listening to again?
I regret watching this in theater, and would have probably regretted watching on Netflix. Hirani should've known better before choosing to cast SRK for this story.
