Sure, without every having heard about this 2022 horror movie titled "Return of the Salem Witch", from director Jack E. Bell, I opted to watch it solely because it was a horror movie that I hadn't already seen. I am a fan of all things horror after all. Truth be told, though, I didn't exactly harbor the biggest of expectations to this movie, as it just permeated low budget horror.
Writer Sam Gurney put together a rather straightforward script and storyline. It was, however, also a rather bland and generic storyline. Sam Gurney didn't exactly bring anything new to the horror genre. Now, don't get me wrong, because the movie was sort of watchable for what it was, though I guess a newcomer to the horror genre will find way more enjoyment in this movie than I did as a life-long horror veteran.
Of the entire cast ensemble, I was only familiar with actress Danielle Scott; yeah, I've seen enough dubious low budget horror movies to recognize her. The acting performances in the movie were fair, though you're not in for anything overly memorable.
Watchable for what it was, but ultimately a bland and generic viewing experience. This is not a horror movie that I will recommend horror fans to go out of their way in order to track down. Nor is it a movie that will ever grace my screen a second time.
My rating of director Jack E. Bell's 2022 movie "Return of the Salem Witch" lands on a four out of ten stars.
