The recruits go into town for a wild night, leaving behind only Recruit Skolnick (David Landsberg). Sharkey feels sorry for the shy Skolnick and takes him out to Ship Ahoy where the rest of the men are. He arranges for the lovely blonde waitress, Jackie (Susanne Zenor) to talk with Skolnick on the basis of getting some publicity shots with Skolnick's photography skills. She flatters Skolnick and they begin dating every night. Starkey is shocked to be told by Skolnick that he and Jackie are going to be married. Skolnick's mother (Bea Silvern) arrives from New York despondent to also be told by Skolnick that he's marrying the cocktail waitress. She implores Sharkey to persuade Skolnick against the marriage. A meeting is held between everyone.
