- Special Agent Jethro Gibbs: My dad told me a story once. It dates back maybe thirty years after the Civil War. My great-great-grandmother and grandfather had fathers that fought on either side. These two old warriors, they probably shot at each other on the battlefield. They couldn't even look at each other at their own kids' wedding. But they did come to live with each other in the same house, and they spent every day for the rest of their lives on the front porch, in a couple of wicker rocking chairs, rocking back and forth.
- NCIS Director Leon Vance: Well, here's hoping. We got better things to do than be Franks's family counselor.
- Special Agent Jethro Gibbs: [getting up] Yeah.
- NCIS Director Leon Vance: I guess they worked out their differences, your relatives. They mellowed with time, right?
- Special Agent Jethro Gibbs: Way I heard it, those two never said a word.
- Special Agent Jethro Gibbs: I left him with the boat. He trailered it to the west coast. It was a gift for my goddaughter.

- NCIS Director Leon Vance: How's the statement coming, Mike?
- Mike Franks: ...Uh, it's a load of crap. Probie called me on it.
- NCIS Director Leon Vance: You lied to us?
- Mike Franks: I'm sure you're shocked and appalled, Director.
- NCIS Director Leon Vance: I'm relieved. Of all your unsavory character traits, I find that to be the most palatable. At least there aren't any more bodies.
- Special Agent Jethro Gibbs: Shoved him off and disappeared.
- NCIS Director Leon Vance: That last part's the part that I *really* don't like. If he's gone underground, that means this isn't over yet. You got any idea where he might be?
- Special Agent Jethro Gibbs: Your guess is as good as mine, Leon.
- NCIS Director Leon Vance: For some reason, I doubt that's true. But I'm going to give you some leeway on this, Gibbs. As it is your friend, your boat, *your* mess... My patience will evaporate quickly if another body shows up before Franks does.
