This is a short spinoff from the movie "Up"
The second Pixar short film to star Bob Peterson after Geri's Game (1997).
In the short time that elapsed between Up (2009) and Dug's Special Mission (2009), the technology to digitally recreate sand had improved so much that the production was able to incorporate it into the film. It's noticeably missing from the earlier feature.
