Saharet, bolero (1905)

Alice Guy directed this French film that has Madame Saharet showing off the Bolero dance. This runs just over two-minutes but it's certainly extremely well-made thanks to the hand tinting that was used. More on that in a minute but the actual dance itself was quite good and it certainly manages to keep you entertained through the short running time. What was most interesting about this film is how extremely good the tint coloring was. A lot of the times when you watch these early color films you can't help but think that someone just took a pen and scribbled all over the print. That's not the case here as there are some terrific looking yellow dresses being worn by a couple of the side dancers. These two, due to the colors, actually steal the film from the lead who just has a bow in her hair colored. I do wonder what she thought after seeing the film.
