    Second-worst

Almost as annoying as Cloverdale (2010) but at least it is not as cheaply made, with as clear and obvious a priority on cutting production cost. This whole sub-arc with the godlike aliens that can make entire star systems seems entirely pointless.

This gift was sent to you...

Courtesy of some almighty aliens that can spawn a stellar system in the middle of nowhere (in space) comprising at least one idyllic planet, find your current position in the vast universe and instantly deliver you a fully refurbished to brand new out-of-factory conditions vessel, along with some ... Returnees.

The pragmatic leader, immediately express his enthusiasm at the opportunity of seizing the suddenly appeared vessel.

The mad scientist does not buy a single word coming out from one of the returnees.

Then the whole episode starts to fall apart.

One might start wondering who those almighty aliens (with a generous heart of gold) truly are.

And what stuff where they passing each other along, to get that high.

    Plot line

The Destiny gets a brand new direct-from-the-factory shuttle for no reason other than that the writers have painted themselves into yet another corner. They use god-aliens to deliver it because if you're going to literally machina ex dei then why not chalk it up to actual dei? Everyone trusts the magic shuttle completely going forward because that's what you do when you live in a story written by idiots. That's it. Well, some people who've been dead for a while are seen to die. But mostly not. For most of them it's during a commercial break. Nothing else of note happens.

God-fearing Dr. Caine returned to Destiny from the planet they chose to be left on which they named Eden. In The Bible, Cain is the eldest son of Adam and Eve who were cast out by God from the Garden of Eden.

MSG Greer calls 1LT Scott a "butter-bar lieutenant", a derogatory term usually used to describe 2LTs like James because their bars are gold colored but 1LT bars are silver colored.
    • Quotes

Master Sgt. Ronald Greer: You... You gonna go see Chloe?

      Lt. Matthew Scott: Yeah. Yeah.

      Master Sgt. Ronald Greer: Okay.

Lt. Matthew Scott: What's wrong with that?

Master Sgt. Ronald Greer: I'm not stoppin' you. Go.

Lt. Matthew Scott: All right, look, she's alone in there all damn day. The only time she's got company is when I come to see her.

Master Sgt. Ronald Greer: That must be hard for her.

Lt. Matthew Scott: I'm just sayin' it wouldn't hurt, you know, if people went to see her.

Master Sgt. Ronald Greer: She's alone for a reason. I mean, whether you want to admit it or not, there's a freak show going on in there.

Lt. Matthew Scott: You are outta line, Greer.

Master Sgt. Ronald Greer: No, sir, I'm not, because it is part of my job as a Master Sergeant to see to it that butter-bar Lieutenants like yourself don't make mistakes.

Lt. Matthew Scott: What did you just call me?

Master Sgt. Ronald Greer: You heard me.

Lt. Matthew Scott: Okay, Master Sergeant, you tell me what is so wrong with giving that girl comfort in what might be her last few days?

Master Sgt. Ronald Greer: Because you don't know when that day's gonna be.

Lt. Matthew Scott: You don't know how much I care about her.

Master Sgt. Ronald Greer: I think I do, and you're not the only one. I pray for her every single night, but that girl is turning into the enemy. And the day is gonna come...
