    Colleurs d'affiche review

Obvious little comedy about warring bill posters who paste over one another's posters for a movie. The Lumieres' name features prominently, but the finished product isn't so great that it's makers would want to be so closely associated with it.

    Colleurs d'affiches (1897)

Here's another example of comedy from the Lumiere studio. A poster hanger completes his job and walks away when another poster hanger walks up and tries to hang his poster in the same spot. If you're a fan of these older movies then you'll know that there were a handful of films based around people fighting over a space to hang a poster. This film certainly isn't a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination but there's some good charm to be found here. The best thing about the pictures is the fact that the timing with the actors is actually quite good and this helps give the film a good flow.
