I wonder what Penn thinks now his arteries are blocked.

Penn Gillete recently released a book about his dramatic weight loss after his arteries became blocked. He raves about vegetable soup. I wonder if he would care to revisit this episode?

    Supersize me :)

Another outstanding episode of kicking away the fecal matter of officials who are convinced that the fast food industry is the culinary equivalent of Ford Motors; i.e. engineered obsolescence in order to ensure customer returning to buy more product. The only problem with that kind of thinking, whether you are the conspirator or target of such a campaign, is that you, as the consumer, do have a choice.

I have to admit to something. I'm a huge fast food fan, but I've shirked fast food for what I thought were health reasons; i.e. fast food being rich in fat and cholesterol. So it is that I eat veggies, beans cheese, and occasionally pasta. But you know what? I'm still just big (or small) as I was ten years ago.

    Imagine.

Like Penn and Teller have told us, it's your personal choice as to whether you wish to indulge or not. And they look at the health proponents who want to tear down or reformulate the fast food industry, the people who consume fast food (us, the American fast food consuming public), and even one of my now favorite men of all time, Andrew Puzder Chief Executive Officer of Carl's Junior('s) Restaurants incorporated.

DIGRESSION; I love Carl's Junior. I quit for a while because I thought their food was too delicious to be healthy. And strangely enough, I got fatter eating at McDonald's than I ever did with Carl's Junior. Carl's Junior makes a superior product in every way (though I still love Big Macs).

Back to the review; Andrew Puzder lays it on the line, and states without batting an eye that he makes good food that people like. And goes on to state that he and his company is in the business of making good food to please people. The American way.

Penn and Teller do a very clever blind folded test. Talk about some facts and figures of the number of calories in the food, and give us the lowdown on what food is, why it is formulated the way it is, and address the obesity issue.

I was cheering at the end of this episode; I truly was. If you over indulge in anything, you will suffer (or enjoy) the consequences of that indulgence. Sex, money, and yes, even food. If you're thing is eating (as I salivate heavily before I complete this sentence) a Carl's Junior Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger....(*ho baby*), then more power to you! Just be aware, that you should probably just eat one, and then go burn those calories by playing some soccer, sailing, or going for a hike in the local wild lands if you have any.

I may be hawkish on geo-politics, I may be conservative in many areas of my life, but the one thing I love is Penn and Teller getting to the absolute bottom of an issue, and calling a spade a spade.

Another supremely outstanding episode of this exceptional and magnificent show.

Watch, get educated, and, most of all, enjoy.
