A typical Leverage is extremely well-written, and a couple dozen of them are not only well-written, but well-acted, well-paced, shot, with guests stars who absolutely nail it.

"The Studio Job" is one such episode, with Alona Tal sensational as the tough, sweet, smart singer who falls for Eliot--and vice-versa. It's hard for guests to credibly fall in like-love in the space of 42 minutes to the point of inviting an ongoing affair, but Tal pulls it off. Great to see Beth Riesgraf play wildly out of character as an Icelandic pop star who hoots rather than speaks. And who knew Kane could sing and play like this.

Among comedy-dramas Leverage is surely among the most underrated series ever produced. Their sense of family without ever lapsing into mere sentiment, and the producers and writers' commitment to avoiding the cheap saccharine elements of togetherness makes tripe like the Fast & Furious series embarrassing by comparision. Long Live Leverage!

    The normal crew was awesome

John Schneider however seemed to be not actually playing a character just his normal everyday douchy self. He thinks he some bigger super star instead of the has been that he really is. And this character seemed to follow that pattern. You could tell it wasn't really him singing. Parker and Hardison were hilarious as the rapper and the Swedish pop star. Eliot was funny too. I had no idea he could sing so well. Not a huge country fan but I like the odd country song now and then. I even went to Spotify and found the doing and added it to my playlist. I might go listen to a few more of his songs.

    • Trivia
The song featured in this episode, "Thinking of You," was recorded and co-written by Christian Kane. It was released later that year (2010) on his band's country album, "The House Rules."
    • Goofs
"In the song that is the centerpiece of this episode, there is a flaw in the imagery. A new moon is completely dark, so it can never shine in a window." ... This is poetic license on the part of the lyricist, illustrating something that is felt rather than seen, just like the people in the song are a million miles apart/right next to you.

Eliot Spencer: Say pitchy one more time. Say pitchy one more time and see what happens. I don't even think that word means what you think it means.

      Alec Hardison: It means pitchy.

      Eliot Spencer: Define it.

      Alec Hardison: You define it.

Eliot Spencer: I don't have to define it, I'm not saying it every five seconds!
