Scott Pilgrim Takes Another Approach
WOW, just WOW. I had high expectations for this adaptation and every one of them were exceeded.
A note: this is not a straight adaptation. It is a new story, that explores the characters of this universe in new and unexpected ways, focusing on those who got the least development in the comics and film.
The animation is amazing, it reminds me of Mob Psycho 100 in the best possible ways.
The only small negative is the cast. While it is amazing they got the original actors back, it is obvious some of them are not voice actors. Most of them do a great job, but some of them are just OK. (It is not bad enough to take off a whole point though, as most of the main characters do a great job.)
As a fan of both the comics and the film, this is an amazing addition to the universe. However, those expecting a one-to-one adaptation might be disappointed. That is what I expected as well, but was very pleasantly surprised by getting an expansion of the universe instead.
