A drug smuggler's "official" escape story

This documentary is so different from the movie Midnight Express (1978) which distorted the facts greatly. This one seems to be more realistic to describe Billy Hayes' imprisonment. However, I believe it still has a lot of missing parts regarding his escape.

His detainment in Turkiye had created a conflict between US and Turkish governments. In the documentary, after he got on the rowboat in the inland sea of Marmara, he passed to Greece a bit too quickly. I believe that there is something more to this story than meets the eye and what is being told here is merely his "official statement" and not the complete one.
