Excellence in Broadcasting

Whoever thought this was a good idea for a Family Guy episode was terribly mistaken. Rush Limbaugh and Republicans? Really? I'm a huge Family Guy fan but this is the one episode I have to switch or turn off, along with most James Woods' guest appearances. Showing Rush Limbaugh as some hero or nice person is just too unbelievable, even for an animated program.

Nice watch, many jokes landed for me, I liked the callback to the episode with lumpar lebrushnov in it and the plot was interesting enough for me to not yawn. Pretty good episode worth watching. Best part was totally the musical.

This has got to be the worst Family Guy episode ever I've ever seen so far. I should've just stopped it on the 5th minute mark after I realised that this may be a dumb political episode. Literally nothing interesting is happening and to top it off they included another 3 or 4 minutes of those lame musicals which at least helped me skip a few more minutes of this travesty. Brian episodes usually suck if Stewie is not involved in the plot. They should just stick to the usual random Peter shenanigans and the cutaway gags, this one simply felt too bland. How did it ever get approved in the first place? Do yourselves a favor and skip this trash.

Family Guy is funny when it sticks to what it does best, stupid quick jokes, surrealist cut aways and a plot that is essentially irrelevant but serves the purpose. Understand that these are not criticisms of the show, since it can still manage to come up with some good situations and hilarious lines from time to time.

This episode however fails entirely for the fact that it seems to be trying to make some kind of political point, at the cost of humour. Whenever Family Guy attempts parody, satire or a vaguely serious theme it just falls flat on its face and gently suffocates in the mud. The writers need to stop trying to be like South Park and stick to what they do best.

With the first episode of series nine being an hour long yawn fest of a humour devoid parody and this episode being almost entirely boring I can only hope that this was just filler and the rest of the season picks up.

It's cool that Rush was willing to be on the show, but as usual conservatives are represented as utter stereotypes. In the years since the episode originally aired, too much division has occurred in America, making the mocking of half of the population a bit less humorous. But Rush let himself be the brunt of it all, and that alone makes this an interesting episode, even if it does rub the wrong way...
