A solid start to season two

This episode follows on immediately from the final episode of season one. MacPherson has escaped from being 'bronzed' in the warehouse with inside help... judging by footage it was probably Claudia. Pete and Myka quickly establish that Artie has survived, thanks to the use of an artefact. Artie then heads to Cern, in Switzerland, as he believes Claudia is heading to see her brother. Back in the warehouse Pete and Myka search to discover if MacPherson took anything with him and discover that somebody else was de-bronzed; H. G. Wells! They then head to Wells's house in London, which is now a museum, hoping to find the famous author... they are in for quite a surprise. Artie and Claudia are reunited and soon afterwards it becomes clear that MacPherson wants something from Cern. Once he gets it he goes to the warehouse with Wells intending to get items from a special vault.

This episode gets season two off to a cracking start. Twists come thick and fast... and some of these are genuine surprises. There is a decent amount of action as well as plenty of funny moments. H. G. Wells is a great addition to the cast of characters and looks set to be a recurring character judging by the way the episode ends... as well as DVD box pictures. The cast are on fine form playing things straight even in the sillier moments. Overall a really fun episode that fans of the series are sure to enjoy.

    • Trivia
The Escher vault is named for early 20th century Dutch surrealist M.C. Escher, whose artwork often featured mathematically-inspired optical illusions (such as a ring of four staircases, all connected, but all leading downwards). The vault is a 21st-century special effects version of many of the same concepts.
