    Me and the vatos

Rick, Daryl, T-Dog, and glenn encounter this group of men called the vatos who may now be as they first seem.

    Anything can happen at anytime!

This was the episode that showed the true nature of this show! That at any point.. a character can suffer a brutal demise!

This episode had some great tension and excitement as it jumped between the two storylines in a great way! Daryl once again steals the show, and the plotline with the other group of survivors shows how they are not the only ones out there and some are good.. while some are not! Is the world changing or is people changing?

The last part of the episode however was the part that stuck out! Out of knowhere we are reminded what can of world this is! That you should never get to comfortable and let your guard down!

By the time it was over, i was shocked and sad!

    The Gang of Do Gooders

Vatos brings back that much needed action and punch that was missing in the last episode. After not finding Merle, The group is stuck in Atlanta trying to save Glenn when a gang rolls up and steals our boy. This episode shows us that other people are trying to make it by, just like our main cast. And they will do what they must do to ensure that. When bad things happen, even the weak can rise to the occasion. The Vatos is a group of survivors locked in a nursing home, trying to keep all the elders safe after they were abandoned. The tough persona this group presents is brought down after one of the elderly comes and breaks up the tension and delivers a punch of comedic relief. After the group makes it back the camp is attacks by a herd of walkers, the group learns that they are not safe, no matter how far away they are from the hot zone. Some brilliant screen writing, directing and acting make for another thrilling episode.

    Protecting the Elders

In Atlanta, Rick, Daryl, Glenn and T-Dog find only Merle's hand on the rooftop, and they follow the blood stain trying o find Merle. They decide to retrieve the bag with weapons and ammunition and they face a hostile Latino gang of survivors that abducts Glenn. But they capture one gangster and propose to trade him per Glenn. However, the leader Guillermo also wants the weapons and ammunition in the deal. Meanwhile, Jim is disturbed in the camp and tells that he has had a prophetic dream with the walkers.

"Vatos" is a uneven episode of "The Walking Dead". The initial tension between Rick, Daryl and T-Dog with the Latino gang led by Guillermo has a disappointing resolution with the intervention of an old lady. However, the surprising attack of the zombies to the camp makes this episode worthwhile. I guess if Merle has not brought these walkers to revenge the campers for leaving him in Atlanta. My vote is eight.

    Title (Brazil): "Vatos" (1.4)

Note: On 08 April 2016 I saw this show again.

    Continues to Get Better!

Judging by the first season, the Walking Dead seems like it's not only going to be a entertaining zombie series, but it's going to have an emotional core. This episode, the fourth in Season 1, is one of the better episodes since the pilot. There is some good characterization scenes and towards the end, there is plenty of zombie violence which may result in a few surprises.

This episode, "Vatos" has Rick and few of the other guys encountering a group of hostile survivors while searching for Merle. Meanwhile back at camp, Jim begins to dig holes despite the fact no one seems to know why.

Overall, this is a very good episode. It has plenty of emotional moments especially during the latter half. The story, score, characters, and the such continues to improve with each passing episode. I feel like this show will only get better and this episode proves why. I rate this episode 9/10.

    • Trivia
This is the first episode in which we actually see some human characters being eaten by the walkers.
    • Goofs
Part of Rick's reason to return to Atlanta, besides looking for Merl, is to retrieve his bag of guns. In fact they almost have a shoot out with the other group over the bag of guns. Yet, throughout the downtown dozens of machine guns and holstered pistols can be seen on dead soldiers and several M-60s can be seen sticking up from the sandbags.

[Dale quotes a line by William Faulkner about time]

Dale Horvath: I like... I like what, um, a father said to his son when he gave him a watch that had been handed down through generations. He said, 'I give you the mausoleum of all hope and desire, which will fit your individual needs no better than it did mine or my father's before me; I give it to you not that you may remember time, but that you may forget it for a moment now and then and not spend all of your breath trying to conquer it.'

Amy: [the group remains silent] You are so weird.

Dale Horvath: [the group laughs] It's not me. It's Faulkner. William Faulkner. Maybe my bad paraphrasing.
