David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel in Bones (2005)

The Daredevil in the Mold

Bones

Edit

Factual errors

Hodgins announces that the bones are covered in a "phylogenetic mold". A correct use of that metaphorical phrase can be found in material for a course on dinosaurs given in the Geology Department of the University of Texas at Austin: "The opposing view actually represents a much older idea recast in a modern phylogenetic mold." The word "recast" is the clue to the meaning of a "mold" in the context of phylogenetics.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

When Camille takes Fisher's headphones out, she says "Hodgins". Camille was not calling Fisher by the name Hodgins when she removed his earphones, she was simply asking him when Hodgins would be done with the mold in reference to when Brennan was asking how long Hodgins would be and thought Fisher was ignoring her.

Revealing mistakes

The whole body X-Ray that Fisher took of the skeleton, has all of the soft tissue of a live person including lungs with a full inhalation.

Miscellaneous

When Angela creates a simulation of the stunt based on Staci's new ramp design, she shows a van as the tow vehicle. However, they don't find out that a van was the tow vehicle until later, when Booth questions Pete Casriel at the J. Edgar Hoover building.

Character error

Noel eats a hot dog but in a previous episode he is amazed that someone would eat one because of "how many toxins are found in the average hot dog" ( "The Man in the Outhouse" in season 4).
