It's a fun fall afternoon watch, with hot drink in hand. Sure it's not amazing, but it is a decent story.
A girl finds that she enjoys being different. Then she finds out she is different. She does not want to be different. Then she learns that difference is a positive thing. We leave her contemplating her options at being different.
The movie is cute at best. We have a lot of talented contemporary actors such as Olympia Dukakis and Aidan Quinn. There is a plethora of contemporary songs. Lots of nice pictures of the woods. We see some blood and guts but nothing gratuitous.
The program hits us over the head with messages such as tolerating the differences in people and their ways, do not drink and drive, there's time enough for love, be happy with who you are, and be happy in your work.
If you have the opportunity to see it for free it is worth the time spent.

If you are looking for an entertaining, magical film that will set a good example for 10 to 13 year old girls, THE LAST KEEPERS will not disappoint.
The story is about 3 generations of artistic and independent women, who happen to have magical powers. When Rhea Carver is upset. She feels like a freak. Expressing her self artistically makes her the butt of jokes at school. She does not feel better when her mom confesses that - Rhea really is different.
LAST KEEPERS is the coming of age story of a 16 year old girl who discovers that she has magical powers. She needs to overcome feeling out of place, in order to understand and master her magical power.
The story is both different, and delightful.

This started out as a very promising movie , up to about the 50minute mark, then it dropped off so drastically in almost every way. I don't know if they suddenly lost financial support or the Directors quit or Something happened that affected everyone, but the editing the Directing even the acting dropped to a level that i would only give 1 star for normally.
Shockingly bad and I am surprised it even has a 4 on IMDb Don't waste your time seriously. This is the type of movie where you should be allowed to return the DVD for a refund, and compensation for wasting an hour and a half of your time.
What were they thinking releasing it like this, surely they were warned it was not ready for release. If i was one of the actors i would be too ashamed to admit i acted in it, but at least i now know what directors to give a pass on next time i watch something, which will be a while since this has put me off watching anything for a while.

I don't get all the bad reviews. This is a wholesome family movie, well best for teens probably. But I feel like it's an honest view on what teens do toward each other. I will warn you it's a slow going movie. They story is not going anywhere quick. I feel like the acting was good, the scenery was fabulous, and the premise is nothing terribly new. I love the familiar faces and the new ones were good too. There is nothing off pudding about this movie. No gore, no horror, no major cursing, mainly teens being teens while the primary character, Rhea, comes to terms with who she is and where her place in this world fits. To answer my always question, would I watch it again...I have to admit I'm on the fence. There are many aspects that would draw me to watch it again but the overall slowness of the movie I may not. This is definitely a movie you should judge for yourself. On to the next.
