Entertaining and full of good information. To argue if this show is real or not is like arguing if rastlin' is real. For the guy who left a review about discovery channel promoting illegal activity and dumbing down audiences. All I can say is if you think it should be illegal for anyone to make themselves something to drink, well I guess the government has done their job at brainwashing you.
You come to really like some of these guys. The problem is that they keep trying to change things up because the show has run so long. Every moonshine season they can't be doing the same thing they did the last season. They honestly come from moonshine ancestors. I really don't like it when they act like they're afraid of "the law" since they have permission from authorities to film the show. I guess they could be trying to show how things were. As an aside, the story of Popcorn Sutton is interesting. There's a lot more to it than they show. The guy says I'd rather be dead than go to prison. I've seen it in my work. It's not really unusual.
What happened to the original idea behind moonshiners? All the other spin offs are not good. Boring, silly and totally scripted. The episode with the confederate is ridiculous. Please return to the original show with new episodes asap.
Moonshining was a way of life in America at one time! It's part of this great country's history! Entertaining show, I love it!
An interesting (although shallow) look, into the production of Moonshine. Although there is a lot of talk about the heritage and dying art of making moonshine, it's obviously the (repeatably labeled 'TAX FREE') money, that is the primary motivation for the moonshiners involved.
The shows strongest asset, is its many likable personalities. However the desperately bad attempts by the producers, to edit the show into suggesting, that the moonshiners are constantly on the verge of being caught by the police, really sticks out and make the show seem more like another bad run of the mill reality show, rather than what it could and should be: A honest depiction of the life and challenges, of modern day moonshiners.
