My Mother Overpacked Too

Ah, a nice, relaxing day in the country with friends! Only first you have to pack a steamer trunk of clothes and supplies in case of..... well, I was never sure why my mother insisted on taking enough clothes and incidental supplies, as if we were going some place for months and there would be no opportunity to buy or borrow toothpaste. Especially when, as here, you might spend four hours getting there, four back and an hour on site.

At least it's good to know that this neurotic behavior was not limited to my family.
