    Very cute movie!

My husband and I saw Miss Dial earlier tonight with some friends, and everyone really liked it. It is a very cute and upbeat movie and there are several laugh-out-loud moments/scenes. If you have ever had a crappy "gotta-pay-the-bills" job, you'll identify with Erica, the main character, and her attempt to inject a little bit of fun and humanity into her daily routine. Both Erica and the male lead are very likable characters -- you will root for them to succeed throughout the movie. The sets are simple (mainly apartment settings) and most of the dialog takes place via phone conversations with the callers appearing in split-screen view. My husband and I agree that this is definitely a movie that we would recommend, and we would both see it again!

    Surprisingly good...

Alright then. I happened to stumble upon the 2013 comedy "Miss Dial" here in 2024, by random luck actually. And it was a movie that I had never heard about. And thus, since I hadn't already seen the movie, of course I took the time to sit down and watch what writer and director David H. Steinberg had to deliver.

Truthfully, then I figured that I would be in for a sappy comedy here. But that was based on the cover and the movie's title, since I didn't know what I was in for.

Color me impressed. Writer and director David H. Steinberg churned out a script and storyline that proved to be heartfelt, entertaining, enjoyable and also memorable. Sure, it was a bit sappy and generic, but it worked out nicely. And I have to admit that I was genuinely entertained throughout the course of the 88 minutes that the movie ran for.

I found the storyline to be original enough to stand out among many other romantic comedies, and that definitely was because of the talent of writer and director David H. Steinberg.

Of the entire cast ensemble, I was only familiar with Sara Rue, whom was in a supportive role here. I will say that leading actress Robinne Lee (playing Erica) and leading actor Same Jaeger (playing Kyle) carried the movie quite nicely.

I would say that "Miss Dial" is actually worth sitting down to watch if you enjoy romantic comedies.

My rating of this 2013 romantic comedy from writer and director David H. Steinberg lands on a six out of ten stars.

    great

This movie was awesome. Good concept and well played. I enjoyed some of the humor presented in the movie. I liked how the movie played out from beginning, middle, and end. It was a clever way to mix all the confrontation between the actors and actresses to make it a all around good time film. Althoughh i thought that there should have been more use of the other big time actors and actresses only to help the movie reach its full potential. There could've been more use for some of the other stars. David did a nice job with this one along with the others. The humor could have expanded more along with the entertainment but over all i think it was a great movie with a greate plot.

    A Cute Rom-Com

This film begins with an attractive young woman by the name of "Erica" (Robinne Lee) working from home as a customer service representative for a major multi-conglomerate corporation. To that effect, she resolves customers complaints all day long yet still maintains a positive outlook. One particular concern, however, involves her boyfriend "Alex" (John Huertas) who she thinks might be cheating on her with an office colleague of his named "Amanda" (Amanda Crew). At least, that is what Erica's best friend "Sam" (Sara Rue) believes. Yet whenever she tries to inquire about Alex's relationship with Amanda, he immediately castigates her for daring to question his fidelity--which only makes her question their relationship even more. So, to help with her feelings of anxiety and isolation, Erica decides to call random people and strike up a long-distance friendship with them with one specific person named "Kyle" (Sam Jaeger) being particularly sympathetic to her plight. However, when her conversations with him bleed over into her normal work hours, she soon discovers that she has reached a point about whether she wants to continue in her current job--and her relationship with Alex--any further. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that this was a fairly entertaining romantic-comedy due in large part to the acting of Robinne Lee who played her part to near perfection. Admittedly, the comedy isn't nearly as pronounced as it could have been but, even so, I enjoyed this film for the most part, and I have rated it accordingly. Slightly above average.

    Enjoyable

This was a very enjoyable and laughter filled film. There were many scenes that kept me laughing especially when the lead actress Eric would make calls for her job. The concept of the "Miss Dial" in which Erica would call a random person and just talk with them was a very original idea to me. It really made me think about how, despite all these social networks, are disconnected from people outside the people we see everyday. Less and less people are breaking out of their comfort zone to meet new people and more and they are stuck behind a computer screen. Although I really enjoyed this film the ending was no much to my liking as it ended up like any other love story with the man and women meeting and having a happily ever after.
