Pretty Rosebud

I cried, I laughed. I totally related to the entire story. How Asian parents can be so controlling, no matter how old you are. I think I saw my dad in there somewhere, like the words had come straight from his mouth. Cissy, the main character faced a lot of the challenges that I dealt with growing up and still do. How we all try to be perfect and it explodes in our face sometimes. The secrets families keep and try to hide that bubble up to the surface only to be pushed down again. I can only hope that I have the courage to come out and tell it like it is when the time comes, if it ever comes.

God you have to see this movie!

Lead actress Chuti Tiu is amazing. The character she plays is challenged with balancing her career, family and the diffficulties of a marriage that is clearly falling apart. I find the topic of this film is all to real in our society today and Chuti's choice of this character is spot on and exceptional!! Actor/Director Oscar Torre displays his true talents on both levels creating a canvas for this great cast to bring it all to life!! Bravo to the great cast and true vision of the creators of this great film. George.😊

I applaud the filmmaking team in taking a risk in making this film and... wow did it work. Great reversal from what I would term... a well worn storyline of predictability. Terrific acting by the lead actress. She was outstanding! I also enjoyed how this film was directed. It moved at a very good pace. You could really feel "Cissy's" internal conflict and what she was going through struggling with morals, cultural traditions and her wants. Certainly worth the watch. A thumbs up from me.

Pretty Rosebud is surprisingly good . I was thinking what will they do in this but when I watched it, it was quite nice and surprisingly good.

Pretty Rosebud is one of my favorite films ! Excellent directing, acting, cinematography, set design. Saw this at a film festival, look forward to other projects from this director.

Chuti Tiu is a wonderful actor who never ceases to entertain and Chuti Tiu gives honest and touching performance . This was a high-quality professional .

Pretty Rosebud is a very interesting relationship drama about Cissy and Phil whose marriage is on the rocks. Phil has been unemployed for a long time and is seemingly depressed and unaffectionate with his wife Cissy, which leads her to seek that attention and affection outside their marriage.

Many relationship dramas have been done before, but Pretty Rosebud has unique extra layers in the form of added pressure both culturally and religiously to remain faithful, build a family, etc. Chuti Tiu gives a great performance in the lead role as Cissy and perhaps it is no surprise that she connected so well with the material since she is also the film's screenwriter. Pretty Rosebud had me interested the whole way through and I was very eager to find out what would end up happening to Cissy. If you're looking for a high quality indie drama, I'd highly recommend Pretty Rosebud! 10/10!
