    A Lot Going On

Smarter Carter is a very full episode with several plots intertwining and all striving to take the center spotlight.. The first is the titular storyline, that of Jack suddenly becoming exponentially smarter. Ferguson's growingly brilliant Carter suddenly fits in with the geniuses of Eureka and he is very very funny even as the situation also provides the crisis of the week. This is paired with the visit of Allison's arrogant also-genius brother, stopping in Eureka on a book tour and to check out the law enforcement everyman that his sister married. It is a nice companion plot which gives Allison's backstory a more human feel and adds both conflict and humor to the episode. The third major element of this offering continues the virtual Holly season-arc. Holly is restless living as an appendage to SARAH and wants to risk losing her matrix construct if it means a chance for freedom and a "normal" life. Plenty of ramped up sci-fi to mine from this plot and it is pretty clear that continuation into the season is the primary purpose of the plot element (as it only lightly melds with the first two storylines). All in all,, a busy, entertaining episode with a lot going on.

    • Trivia
The Dr. Marcus Blake character - Allison's brother - is, in reality, played by her actual husband, Dondre Whitfield.
    • Goofs
As Jo and Zane are pulling up to the building when looking for Andy, two reflections of the SUV's headlights can be seen on screen. The ground could not cause them so there must be a clear, but reflective, screen between the camera and vehicle.
