    Prurience over Plot

I was liking this series fairly well until I got to this episode. From the beginning, the promise of the series' premise was enough to get me past the off-putting aspects of both Kate and Megan. I was pretty sure Megan would get better and Kate would get worse. Until then, Bud, Peter, Curtis, and Ethan carried the load.

This particular episode was just too much, so I put the series on probation. Since then, I've seen the next episode and it went down a dirt road too, so I'm out of here.

In departing, here are a couple of tips for the writers:

    1. Characters who are promiscuous and adulterers are uninteresting. Who cares about their problems when they create so many for others?

    2. The scripts have witnessed, albeit inadvertently, to some important truths about human relationships. (If the characters were made to admit to them, it would redeem the whole series, but that's not going to happen.) Those truths all center on the inversion of relationships when responsible people behave irresponsibly; e.g.,

    a. The relationship between Megan and Lacey--- Megan has objectively neglected her daughter and now Lacey has Megan on probation. The child is in charge of the parent.

    b. Kate is sleeping with Megan's ex-husband and now she (the boss) has lost control over Megan (her employee).

    • Trivia
Dana Delany as Megan Hunt makes two references to her role in Desperate Housewives (2004) in which she played Katherine Mayfair. The first is early in this episode when she tells Peter that she used to live in a cul-de-sac just like this. Near the end she tells Ethan Gross that he couldn't handle a Desperate Housewife. Furthermore in the trivia section of Desperate Housewives it reads: "According to Marc Cherry, the ABC chairman asked him to write Katherine out of the show so Dana Delany could lead Body of Proof (2011)".
    • Quotes

Ethan Gross: Any houses for rent in this cul-de-sac?

Megan Hunt: You couldn't handle a desperate housewife. Believe me.
