Came back to it after 15 years, loved it nearly as much

My mom and I have been rewatching so many iconic Barbie movies from my childhood (I'm 21)!! I remember being stunned by this movie, the crown scene at the end has been engraved in my mind for the past 15 years.

Looking back at it now as a grown-up, here are some thoughts my mom and I had:

We watched "A Mermaid Tale" right before this, and if anyone is reading this please go watch that we found it soo much better! And I say that thinking that this one was good already. The story is pretty enticing, its best part is the final 20 minutes. Of course the dialogue is kind of basic so I'm prob taking a point off for that but what more can you expect from this genre. The characters are phenomenal, so much personality, Portia is genuinely very funny I really like her and love seeing her mentioned in other reviews.

The only stuff we found very hilarious is how badly animated the body movements are lol!! I wonder why they made them all dance so much if it looked that goofy, but honestly it's just a feature of the time and it made me all the more nostalgic :')

    Best Barbie movie?

A lot of people don't even realize the sheer number of Barbie movies there are out there. Well, I'm usually referring to the ones made in the 2000's. It seems like every direct to video animated movie is traditionally animated. It's nice to see something different. This is ranked as the best Barbie movie ever made, which isn't really saying that much. Barbie plays some woman named Blair.

Odd she'd play someone when she's already a character. She wins a contest to go to a princess school and they actually do set up the story pretty well. It's revealed that she's a missing princess herself and the rightful heir to the throne. There's this rich girl bully who redeems herself by revealing she's only that way because of her parents. That must be a trope. Not the most original idea, but it is pretty good. **1/2

460th Review: My three girls loved this: their favorite movie since Tangled

I'm going to give this a 9, not for its standing in the history of cinema, but for the simple fact that it made my three girls really, really happy - and it has good values without being prissy about it.

For girls under the age of 10 it really is entertaining.

The plot is appealing - a girl, Blair Willows, wins a lottery ticket to the Princess Charm School, and discovers her inner strength.

All I can say is we all watched this as a family movie night, and we adults normally phase out fast, but both my wife and I really enjoyed this thoroughly and the kids just loved it - it's fun, and funny, and exciting and even though you know the tie-ins are there it actually stands up as a good kids film in its own right.

    Charming? You betcha.

    Review #8

This movie can be described easily in 2 words: cinematic masterpiece. Barbie: Princess Charm School (2011) is nothing short of the greatest film of all time and I feel blessed to have seen this movie. Each and every character has so much depth with riveting stories. Not to mention the subtle commentary on the negative effects of capitalism and how Barbie herself wants to make Gardenia a communist society (evidently the right decision). All this in mind I would like to say that this movie was carried to the top with the help of 3 pivotal characters: Brock, Isla and Prince. Derek Waters' delivery with his lines were outstanding and really helped bring to life the best character in the film with his incredible accent. Isla, another pillar of this godlike film is an absolute waifu and i dont have much more to add in that department. When it comes to Prince there was no better of a voice actor to choose than Brian Drummond, what with his incredible performance in Hot Wheels: World Race. It was only right to cast him for Prince and by god does he live up to his prestige. Overall these 3 characters helped culminate this film into the masterpiece that it is and I enjoyed every moment of this film. Especially the carefully and intricately choreographed dances that was the icing on the cake for the ending of this film. And don't even get me started on that hunk of a guy Prince Nicholas who was the ideal mate for Barbie. In conclusion, this film was outstanding and I will be sure to share this movie with everyone I meet and watch it whenever the opportunity comes up. Would highly recommend this movie to anyone with a great appreciation for high quality media. Thank you for reading.

Blair's roommates at Princess Charm School's names are Hadley and Isla, which happen to be the names of Genevieve's (12 Dancing Princesses) younger twin sisters. Also Hadley in both movies wore a blue outfit and Isla wore a purple out fit.
